44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, In an outstanding demonstration of physical
66 endurance and mental determination, Terrell resident Robin Dunlap
77 has completed full marathons in all 50 U.S. states; and
88 WHEREAS, Ms. Dunlap achieved the goal after crossing the
99 finish line at a race in Hawaii in January 2022, joining the group
1010 of marathoners who have persevered through races in every state in
1111 the nation; and
1212 WHEREAS, A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ms. Dunlap
1313 was on the cross country team in high school, but it was not until
1414 the age of 34 that she ran her first 26.2-mile race in the 2004
1515 Marine Corps Marathon, which takes place in Washington, D.C., and
1616 Virginia; a second marathon, in Ohio, followed a year later, but it
1717 wasn't until the 2010s that she began to seriously devote herself to
1818 the goal; in pursuit of entry into the 50-states club, she ran
1919 marathons in Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah in a three-day span, and in
2020 May 2021, she finished races in Connecticut, Rhode Island,
2121 Massachusetts, and New Jersey over the course of four consecutive
2222 days; and
2323 WHEREAS, Ms. Dunlap clocked a personal best time of 3 hours,
2424 55 minutes, at a race in Charleston, Nevada, in April 2022; that
2525 accomplishment qualified her to run in the 2023 Boston Marathon,
2626 which was another of her goals as an athlete; in all her endeavors,
2727 she benefits from the love and support of her husband, Ray, and her
2828 daughters, Ashley and Chloe; and
2929 WHEREAS, Running marathons in 50 states is an impressive feat
3030 realized by a select number of runners, and Robin Dunlap may take
3131 justifiable pride in her accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3333 Legislature hereby congratulate Robin Dunlap on running marathons
3434 in all 50 U.S. states and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
3535 future; and, be it further
3636 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3737 prepared for Ms. Dunlap as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3838 House of Representatives.
