| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 6 | | passing of Kathryn Jean Nielsen Ross on May 15, 2023, at the age of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 63; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Howard Nielsen and Norita Kitter |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Nielsen, the former Kathy Nielsen was born in Dayton, Ohio, on July |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1, 1959, and she grew up with the companionship of a brother, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Steven; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Ross enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | social worker, and she later established her own business to help |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | young girls in need; engaged in politics, she served as a Republican |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | precinct chair, and she was involved in a number of conservative |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | political groups; in addition, she found great strength in her |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | faith and gave generously of her time and talents to several church |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | ministries and prayer groups; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Ross was a devoted mother to her daughter, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Hannah; in her leisure hours, she liked to read and spend time with |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | loved ones, and her life was further enriched by her passion for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | food, fashion, and flowers; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Admired for her wisdom, generosity, and grace, Kathy |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Ross brightened the world for all who knew her, and they will |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Kathryn Jean |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Nielsen Ross and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | family: to her daughter, Hannah Faith Ross; to her brother, Steven |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Nielsen, and his wife, Denise; and to her other relatives and many |
