| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Arlington is marking its |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | centennial with a special celebration on June 10, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Chartered on June 11, 1923, the Rotary Club of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Arlington is a local chapter of Rotary International, an |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | organization of business, professional, and community leaders who |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | are dedicated to providing humanitarian services and fostering |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | goodwill across the globe; since its founding, the members of the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Arlington club have steadfastly devoted themselves to the Rotary |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | concept of "Service Above Self" by taking part in service projects |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | benefiting people in their community and beyond; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Arlington has supported a variety |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of initiatives in behalf of students in Arlington ISD, including a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | scholarship program and a backpack giveaway at the club's sponsored |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | school, Webb Elementary; its many other good works have included |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | hosting the "Signs of Humanity" homelessness awareness event, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | donating clothing and toys for the Salvation Army's Angel Tree |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | program, and conducting blood drives in partnership with Carter |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Blood Care; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The men and women of this dynamic organization have |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | also given generously of their time, talents, and resources to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | international causes; alongside other clubs in the area, the Rotary |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Club of Arlington has undertaken an effort to supply water filters |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | for some 25,000 villagers in Honduras; in addition, when Nepal was |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | struck by a devastating earthquake in April 2015, the Rotary Club of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Arlington stepped forward to help rebuild damaged school |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | facilities, allowing more than 800 students to return to classes in |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the aftermath of the disaster; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Arlington has made a positive |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | impact in the lives of countless people through the collective |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | efforts of its members, past and present, and it is indeed a |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | pleasure to join in marking this momentous milestone in the |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | organization's history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Legislature hereby honor the Rotary Club of Arlington on the |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | occasion of its centennial and extend to all those associated with |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | the organization sincere best wishes for continued success with |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | their important work; and, be it further |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 44 | 44 | | prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|---|
