| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The city of Fort Worth lost a beloved community |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | leader with the passing of Daniel M. Jensen on December 5, 2021, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 66; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Elwood and Elaine Jensen, Danny Jensen |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | was born on July 24, 1955, and he grew up with the companionship of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | his brother, David; he graduated from Alamo Heights High School in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | San Antonio in 1973, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Texas Tech University as well as a master's degree from Texas |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Christian University; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Jensen began his career with the Texas College |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Science Center at Fort Worth in 1984, and he initially served as |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | director of development and executive director of the foundation; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | in 1990, he became the vice president for governmental affairs for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | HSC, and he was later appointed the associate vice chancellor for |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | governmental relations; over the course of his nearly four decades |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of service, he spearheaded legislative strategy that was central to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the growth of a significantly larger and more diverse HSC; he played |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | an instrumental role in gaining support for a number of new |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | facilities on campus and for the establishment of the Graduate |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Public Health, the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | School of Health Professions, and the UNT System College of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Pharmacy; he collaborated with local, state, and federal officials |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | as well as with other community leaders to advance HSC, the City of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Fort Worth, and higher education in Texas; as part of HSC's 50th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Anniversary, he was designated as one of the school's "50 Heroes"; |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Jensen married Lynette Walker in 1983, and they |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | were blessed with two children, Dane and Abigail; known for his |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | jovial personality and big heart, he was a kind and caring father as |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | well as a beloved friend, and he never missed an opportunity to |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | express his gratitude to those who shared in his life; during his |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | leisure hours, he enjoyed playing golf; and |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Danny Jensen brightened the world for all who knew |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | him with his wit, charm, and outgoing personality, and he left |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | behind a legacy of service that his loved ones can remember with |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | pride; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Daniel M. Jensen and |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | extend sincere condolences to his family and friends; and, be it |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | further |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |

| 48 | 48 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Danny |
