44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The city of Fort Worth lost a beloved community
66 leader with the passing of Daniel M. Jensen on December 5, 2021, at
77 the age of 66; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Elwood and Elaine Jensen, Danny Jensen
99 was born on July 24, 1955, and he grew up with the companionship of
1010 his brother, David; he graduated from Alamo Heights High School in
1111 San Antonio in 1973, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from
1212 Texas Tech University as well as a master's degree from Texas
1313 Christian University; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Jensen began his career with the Texas College
1515 of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health
1616 Science Center at Fort Worth in 1984, and he initially served as
1717 director of development and executive director of the foundation;
1818 in 1990, he became the vice president for governmental affairs for
1919 HSC, and he was later appointed the associate vice chancellor for
2020 governmental relations; over the course of his nearly four decades
2121 of service, he spearheaded legislative strategy that was central to
2222 the growth of a significantly larger and more diverse HSC; he played
2323 an instrumental role in gaining support for a number of new
2424 facilities on campus and for the establishment of the Graduate
2525 School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Public Health, the
2626 School of Health Professions, and the UNT System College of
2727 Pharmacy; he collaborated with local, state, and federal officials
2828 as well as with other community leaders to advance HSC, the City of
2929 Fort Worth, and higher education in Texas; as part of HSC's 50th
3030 Anniversary, he was designated as one of the school's "50 Heroes";
3131 and
3232 WHEREAS, Mr. Jensen married Lynette Walker in 1983, and they
3333 were blessed with two children, Dane and Abigail; known for his
3434 jovial personality and big heart, he was a kind and caring father as
3535 well as a beloved friend, and he never missed an opportunity to
3636 express his gratitude to those who shared in his life; during his
3737 leisure hours, he enjoyed playing golf; and
3838 WHEREAS, Danny Jensen brightened the world for all who knew
3939 him with his wit, charm, and outgoing personality, and he left
4040 behind a legacy of service that his loved ones can remember with
4141 pride; now, therefore, be it
4242 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4343 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Daniel M. Jensen and
4444 extend sincere condolences to his family and friends; and, be it
4545 further
4646 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4747 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4848 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Danny
4949 Jensen.
