H.R. No. 2237 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The city of Fort Worth lost a beloved community leader with the passing of Daniel M. Jensen on December 5, 2021, at the age of 66; and WHEREAS, The son of Elwood and Elaine Jensen, Danny Jensen was born on July 24, 1955, and he grew up with the companionship of his brother, David; he graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio in 1973, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University as well as a master's degree from Texas Christian University; and WHEREAS, Mr. Jensen began his career with the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth in 1984, and he initially served as director of development and executive director of the foundation; in 1990, he became the vice president for governmental affairs for HSC, and he was later appointed the associate vice chancellor for governmental relations; over the course of his nearly four decades of service, he spearheaded legislative strategy that was central to the growth of a significantly larger and more diverse HSC; he played an instrumental role in gaining support for a number of new facilities on campus and for the establishment of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Public Health, the School of Health Professions, and the UNT System College of Pharmacy; he collaborated with local, state, and federal officials as well as with other community leaders to advance HSC, the City of Fort Worth, and higher education in Texas; as part of HSC's 50th Anniversary, he was designated as one of the school's "50 Heroes"; and WHEREAS, Mr. Jensen married Lynette Walker in 1983, and they were blessed with two children, Dane and Abigail; known for his jovial personality and big heart, he was a kind and caring father as well as a beloved friend, and he never missed an opportunity to express his gratitude to those who shared in his life; during his leisure hours, he enjoyed playing golf; and WHEREAS, Danny Jensen brightened the world for all who knew him with his wit, charm, and outgoing personality, and he left behind a legacy of service that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Daniel M. Jensen and extend sincere condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Danny Jensen.
