55 WHEREAS, Viva Selena Marie Lopez is concluding her tenure on
66 the Venom Hype Squad after dancing with the group for one final
77 season; and
88 WHEREAS, The Venom Hype Squad is the official dance team for
99 the RGV Vipers, an NBA G League team affiliated with the Houston
1010 Rockets; Viva Lopez, who was born with Down syndrome, joined the
1111 squad four years ago and has since entertained countless spectators
1212 with her impressive dance moves and spunky personality; and
1313 WHEREAS, Active in the Rio Grande Valley community, Ms. Lopez
1414 has distinguished herself through her philanthropic work and her
1515 efforts to raise awareness about Down syndrome; in 2020, she was one
1616 of five Valley residents selected to have their photos shown in a
1717 video presentation for the 25th annual New York City Buddy Walk's
1818 virtual celebration kicking off Down Syndrome Awareness Month; in
1919 all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her mother,
2020 Mary Jane Lopez; and
2121 WHEREAS, Viva Lopez has inspired everyone around her with her
2222 talent, hard work, and commitment to excellence, and she may indeed
2323 take pride in her many accomplishments as she embarks on the next
2424 exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2626 Legislature hereby honor Viva Selena Marie Lopez on the occasion of
2727 her final season with the Venom Hype Squad and extend to her sincere
2828 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Ms. Lopez as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3131 House of Representatives.
