H.R. No. 2265
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Oliver Ortiz of Dumas High School achieved great
distinction by winning the silver medal in the boys' 4A 400-meter
dash at the 2023 University Interscholastic League Track & Field
State Meet; and
WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors in
Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 11, Mr. Ortiz turned
in a notable performance, claiming second place with a time of 48.10
seconds; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ortiz is also a wide receiver for the Dumas High
School football team, and he has signed a letter of intent to play
for the University of Northern Colorado; in recognition of his
accomplishments, he was named the Best All-Around Boy Athlete and
the Track MVP for 2023 by the Dumas Independent School District; and
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for
high school track and field athletes, Oliver Ortiz has ably
represented his school and community, and he will cherish his
memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Oliver Ortiz on his silver-medal
finish in the boys' 4A 400-meter dash at the 2023 UIL Track & Field
State Meet and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Ortiz as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
