H.R. No. 2271
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Kendra Murray of Tascosa High School in Amarillo
achieved great distinction by winning the bronze medal in the
girls' shot put wheelchair event at the 2023 University
Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet; and
WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors in
Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 12, Ms. Murray
turned in a notable performance; demonstrating tremendous resolve,
she delivered her best throw on her final try, clinching a
third-place finish with an effort of 16 feet, 0.25 inches; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Tascosa High, Ms. Murray enjoyed great
success during the 2023 season, her inaugural year of competing in
the shot put; she became the first student-athlete from the
Amarillo Independent School District to participate in the
wheelchair division at the state meet and the first to earn a medal;
and
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for
high school track and field athletes, Kendra Murray has ably
represented her school and community, and she will cherish her
memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Kendra Murray on her bronze-medal
finish in the girls' shot put wheelchair event at the 2023 UIL Track &
Field State Meet and extend to her sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Murray as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
