| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Teaching is a profession that calls for character, |

| 6 | 6 | | passion, and commitment, and Shonte' Leonard has demonstrated these |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | qualities in abundance throughout her career with the Beaumont |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 2008, Ms. Leonard joined the staff of Clifton J. |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Ozen Magnet High School, which is now Beaumont United High School; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | over the past 15 years, she has served as a speech communications |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and journalism instructor, senior class sponsor, and University |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Interscholastic League coordinator; she has further benefited the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | district as a member of the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | System committee; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Leonard has received a number of accolades in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | recognition of her work as an educator, including a Campus Teacher |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of the Year award and an Outstanding Classroom Teacher Award from |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Beaumont A&M Club, and she was named a Southeast Texas Young |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Professionals Organization 40 Under 40 honoree; she is a graduate |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of Lamar University, where she earned bachelor's degrees in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | corporate communication and family and consumer science as well as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a master's degree in educational leadership; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Shonte' Leonard has made a lasting and positive |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | difference in the lives of countless students in Beaumont ISD, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her outstanding |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | contributions to Southeast Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commend Shonte' Leonard for her exemplary |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | service to the Beaumont Independent School District and extend to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | work; and, be it further |
