H.R. No. 2361 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Teaching is a profession that calls for character, passion, and commitment, and Shonte' Leonard has demonstrated these qualities in abundance throughout her career with the Beaumont Independent School District; and WHEREAS, In 2008, Ms. Leonard joined the staff of Clifton J. Ozen Magnet High School, which is now Beaumont United High School; over the past 15 years, she has served as a speech communications and journalism instructor, senior class sponsor, and University Interscholastic League coordinator; she has further benefited the district as a member of the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System committee; and WHEREAS, Ms. Leonard has received a number of accolades in recognition of her work as an educator, including a Campus Teacher of the Year award and an Outstanding Classroom Teacher Award from the Beaumont A&M Club, and she was named a Southeast Texas Young Professionals Organization 40 Under 40 honoree; she is a graduate of Lamar University, where she earned bachelor's degrees in corporate communication and family and consumer science as well as a master's degree in educational leadership; and WHEREAS, Shonte' Leonard has made a lasting and positive difference in the lives of countless students in Beaumont ISD, and she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her outstanding contributions to Southeast Texas; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby commend Shonte' Leonard for her exemplary service to the Beaumont Independent School District and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Leonard as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
