| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, On December 10, 2022, Fire Marshal Eleazar Cuevas |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | was honored for 20 years of dedicated service to the City of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Eagle Pass; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, First hired by the city in 2002, Mr. Cuevas was |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | promoted to lieutenant in 2013, and later that year, he attended the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Middle Rio Grande Regional Law Enforcement Academy; he was |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | appointed a peace officer in 2014, and he went on to join the Fire |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Marshal's Office as deputy fire marshal; in 2019, he assumed his |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | current role as fire marshal; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In addition to responding to major fires and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | accidents in the area over the years, Mr. Cuevas has played an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | instrumental role in investigating and identifying the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | perpetrators of several arson fires; moreover, he leads the city's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Fire Prevention Program, which reaches more than 5,000 students in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | local schools and daycare centers, as well as community |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | organizations and residential facilities for seniors; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Cuevas has training in such areas as hazardous |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | materials, confined space rescue, and swift water rescue, and he |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | holds a number of professional certifications, including advanced |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | firefighter, master arson investigator, advanced fire |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | investigator, intermediate peace officer, and emergency medical |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | technician; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | commitment to excellence, Eleazar Cuevas has earned the lasting |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | respect and admiration of his colleagues and fellow citizens, and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | it is a pleasure to join in recognizing him for his outstanding |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | record of service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commend Fire Marshal Eleazar Cuevas for his 20 |
