H.R. No. 2492
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On December 10, 2022, Fire Marshal Eleazar Cuevas
was honored for 20 years of dedicated service to the City of
Eagle Pass; and
WHEREAS, First hired by the city in 2002, Mr. Cuevas was
promoted to lieutenant in 2013, and later that year, he attended the
Middle Rio Grande Regional Law Enforcement Academy; he was
appointed a peace officer in 2014, and he went on to join the Fire
Marshal's Office as deputy fire marshal; in 2019, he assumed his
current role as fire marshal; and
WHEREAS, In addition to responding to major fires and
accidents in the area over the years, Mr. Cuevas has played an
instrumental role in investigating and identifying the
perpetrators of several arson fires; moreover, he leads the city's
Fire Prevention Program, which reaches more than 5,000 students in
local schools and daycare centers, as well as community
organizations and residential facilities for seniors; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cuevas has training in such areas as hazardous
materials, confined space rescue, and swift water rescue, and he
holds a number of professional certifications, including advanced
firefighter, master arson investigator, advanced fire
investigator, intermediate peace officer, and emergency medical
technician; and
WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and
commitment to excellence, Eleazar Cuevas has earned the lasting
respect and admiration of his colleagues and fellow citizens, and
it is a pleasure to join in recognizing him for his outstanding
record of service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Fire Marshal Eleazar Cuevas for his 20
years of service to the City of Eagle Pass and extend to him sincere
best wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Cuevas as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
