| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |

| 6 | 6 | | cause for celebration, and Stella Wilbanks of Crosby is marking |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | that momentous milestone in her life on February 18, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Wilbanks traces her family's roots in Texas |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | back to 1847 with the arrival of her great-grandfather, August |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Vogelsang; she was born in Giddings to William and Elsie Smith in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1923, and after spending most of her youth in Giddings, she moved to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Austin around 1940; she later relocated to Houston and married |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Charles P. Wilbanks, and the couple would eventually become the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | parents of two daughters; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, After her husband's passing, Mrs. Wilbanks moved |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | back to the family farm in Giddings, and since 2014, she has made |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | her home in Crosby; with the passing years, she has had the pleasure |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of seeing her family grow to include two grandchildren and five |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | great-grandchildren; she is known for her love of dancing, sewing, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and mowing the fields on the farm; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Stella Wilbanks has witnessed a panorama of change |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | over the course of a century, and she has met life's challenges and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | opportunities with dignity and grace, earning her the deep |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | admiration and affection of all who are privileged to know her; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Stella Wilbanks on the joyous |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes |

| 29 | 29 | | for continued happiness; and, be it further |
