| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Todd Sutherland, head coach of the boys' basketball |

| 6 | 6 | | team at East Chambers High School in Winnie, recorded his 900th |

| 7 | 7 | | career win on February 3, 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The winningest high school basketball coach in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | southeast Texas, Mr. Sutherland attained the landmark victory in a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | matchup against Orangefield High School; the Buccaneers triumphed |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 47-38, lifting their coach to a new level of success; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his exceptional career, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Mr. Sutherland has also coached at Hardin-Jefferson, West |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Orange-Stark, and Kountze High Schools; in addition to taking the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Buccaneers to the state tournament in 2016 and 2019, he guided two |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | teams to state championships, having won titles with Kountze in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 2004 and Hardin-Jefferson in 2007; moreover, he has distinguished |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | himself as an algebra teacher at East Chambers High; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Coach Sutherland enjoys the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | love and support of his wife, Jenny Ney Sutherland, with whom he has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | shared a rewarding marriage that has spanned more than four |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | decades; he takes tremendous pride in his children, Whitney Harris, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Taylor Sutherland, and Grayson Sutherland; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In reaching the 900-win plateau, Todd Sutherland has |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | earned a special place in the pantheon of Lone Star State basketball |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | coaches, and this rare feat is indeed deserving of commendation; |

| 27 | 27 | | now, therefore, be it |
