 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Todd Sutherland, head coach of the boys' basketball
 team at East Chambers High School in Winnie, recorded his 900th
 career win on February 3, 2023; and
 WHEREAS, The winningest high school basketball coach in
 southeast Texas, Mr. Sutherland attained the landmark victory in a
 matchup against Orangefield High School; the Buccaneers triumphed
 47-38, lifting their coach to a new level of success; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his exceptional career,
 Mr. Sutherland has also coached at Hardin-Jefferson, West
 Orange-Stark, and Kountze High Schools; in addition to taking the
 Buccaneers to the state tournament in 2016 and 2019, he guided two
 teams to state championships, having won titles with Kountze in
 2004 and Hardin-Jefferson in 2007; moreover, he has distinguished
 himself as an algebra teacher at East Chambers High; and
 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Coach Sutherland enjoys the
 love and support of his wife, Jenny Ney Sutherland, with whom he has
 shared a rewarding marriage that has spanned more than four
 decades; he takes tremendous pride in his children, Whitney Harris,
 Taylor Sutherland, and Grayson Sutherland; and
 WHEREAS, In reaching the 900-win plateau, Todd Sutherland has
 earned a special place in the pantheon of Lone Star State basketball
 coaches, and this rare feat is indeed deserving of commendation;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Todd Sutherland on his 900th career
 victory and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Coach Sutherland as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
