55 WHEREAS, Julius James Dubcak of Round Rock passed away on
66 February 15, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving his family and friends
77 to treasure their many happy memories of time spent in his company;
88 and
99 WHEREAS, Born on February 7, 1940, on a cotton farm in eastern
1010 Bell County, Julius Dubcak took great pride in being raised in a
1111 Czech American family; after graduating from Rogers High School in
1212 1958, he attended Temple Junior College and Sam Houston State
1313 Teachers College and earned a bachelor of business administration
1414 degree in 1965; he then went to work for the Texas Comptroller's
1515 Office in Bryan, and he continued his employment with the state
1616 comptroller after transferring to the Houston office; he enjoyed
1717 being part of Comptroller Bob Bullock's administration, and he was
1818 assigned to the agency's Enforcement Headquarters at the time of
1919 his retirement in 2000; and
2020 WHEREAS, After moving to Houston, Mr. Dubcak met the love of
2121 his life, Jeannie, whom he married on May 6, 1967; the couple shared
2222 a remarkable 55 years together and became the parents of a son,
2323 Travis; over the years, their cherished family grew to include two
2424 grandsons, Travis and Horacio, and a great-grandson, Nicholas;
2525 later in life, Mr. Dubcak and his wife traveled extensively
2626 throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and they also enjoyed
2727 taking cruises; and
2828 WHEREAS, Mr. Dubcak's love for his Czech heritage led to his
2929 involvement in a number of Czech American organizations; he worked
3030 for RVOS Insurance for 30 years, in addition to serving on the
3131 company's board of directors; passionate about music from an early
3232 age, he played the trumpet for several polka bands, most notably the
3333 Vrazel Polka Band, and after being an active member of Sokol in
3434 Houston, he served as vice president of the Sokol West in Waco; he
3535 was a member of the board of directors of the Western Fraternal Life
3636 Association from 1976 to 2007, distinguishing himself as its
3737 longest unopposed director; other groups that benefited greatly
3838 from his involvement include the Austin Czech Historical
3939 Association and the Travis-Williamson Counties Czech Heritage
4040 Society; and
4141 WHEREAS, Julius Dubcak enjoyed a life that was rich in
4242 family, friends, and accomplishments, and he will forever hold a
4343 special place in the hearts of those he leaves behind; now,
4444 therefore, be it
4545 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4646 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Julius James Dubcak
4747 and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and,
4848 be it further
4949 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5050 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5151 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Julius
5252 James Dubcak.
