5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Julius James Dubcak of Round Rock passed away on |

6 | 6 | | February 15, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving his family and friends |

7 | 7 | | to treasure their many happy memories of time spent in his company; |

9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born on February 7, 1940, on a cotton farm in eastern |
---|
10 | 10 | | Bell County, Julius Dubcak took great pride in being raised in a |
---|
11 | 11 | | Czech American family; after graduating from Rogers High School in |
---|
12 | 12 | | 1958, he attended Temple Junior College and Sam Houston State |
---|
13 | 13 | | Teachers College and earned a bachelor of business administration |
---|
14 | 14 | | degree in 1965; he then went to work for the Texas Comptroller's |
---|
15 | 15 | | Office in Bryan, and he continued his employment with the state |
---|
16 | 16 | | comptroller after transferring to the Houston office; he enjoyed |
---|
17 | 17 | | being part of Comptroller Bob Bullock's administration, and he was |
---|
18 | 18 | | assigned to the agency's Enforcement Headquarters at the time of |
---|
19 | 19 | | his retirement in 2000; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, After moving to Houston, Mr. Dubcak met the love of |
---|
21 | 21 | | his life, Jeannie, whom he married on May 6, 1967; the couple shared |
---|
22 | 22 | | a remarkable 55 years together and became the parents of a son, |
---|
23 | 23 | | Travis; over the years, their cherished family grew to include two |
---|
24 | 24 | | grandsons, Travis and Horacio, and a great-grandson, Nicholas; |
---|
25 | 25 | | later in life, Mr. Dubcak and his wife traveled extensively |
---|
26 | 26 | | throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and they also enjoyed |
---|
27 | 27 | | taking cruises; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Dubcak's love for his Czech heritage led to his |
---|
29 | 29 | | involvement in a number of Czech American organizations; he worked |
---|
30 | 30 | | for RVOS Insurance for 30 years, in addition to serving on the |
---|
31 | 31 | | company's board of directors; passionate about music from an early |
---|
32 | 32 | | age, he played the trumpet for several polka bands, most notably the |
---|
33 | 33 | | Vrazel Polka Band, and after being an active member of Sokol in |
---|
34 | 34 | | Houston, he served as vice president of the Sokol West in Waco; he |
---|
35 | 35 | | was a member of the board of directors of the Western Fraternal Life |
---|
36 | 36 | | Association from 1976 to 2007, distinguishing himself as its |
---|
37 | 37 | | longest unopposed director; other groups that benefited greatly |
---|
38 | 38 | | from his involvement include the Austin Czech Historical |
---|
39 | 39 | | Association and the Travis-Williamson Counties Czech Heritage |
---|
40 | 40 | | Society; and |
---|
41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, Julius Dubcak enjoyed a life that was rich in |
---|
42 | 42 | | family, friends, and accomplishments, and he will forever hold a |
---|
43 | 43 | | special place in the hearts of those he leaves behind; now, |
---|
44 | 44 | | therefore, be it |

45 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
46 | 46 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Julius James Dubcak |
---|
47 | 47 | | and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and, |

48 | 48 | | be it further |

49 | 49 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
