| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Rowlett Citizen Corps Council is celebrating its |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | 20th anniversary in 2023, and this occasion provides a fitting |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | opportunity to reflect on the organization's vital work in behalf |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | of the community; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 2003, the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | coordinates the activities of six volunteer programs that prepare |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | for and respond to such threats as terrorism, natural disasters, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | severe weather outbreaks, public health issues, and local |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | emergencies; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, These six programs include the Rowlett Community |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Emergency Response Team (CERT), the EastTex Regional CERT, the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Rowlett Fire Corps, Rowlett Explorer Post One, the Rowlett Amateur |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Radio Emergency Service, and BSA Troop No. 646; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Altogether, the council's programs benefit from the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | participation of approximately 400 active members, who have donated |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | nearly 300,000 service hours valued at over $7 million; in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | addition, the council and its affiliated programs have provided |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | more than 1,250 students with CERT training; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, For two decades, the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | has worked tirelessly to ensure that area communities are safer, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | stronger, and better prepared, and it is a pleasure to recognize the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | invaluable contributions of this exemplary organization; now, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Rowlett |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Citizen Corps Council and extend to its members and affiliates |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | sincere best wishes for continued success with their important |
|---|
