 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Rowlett Citizen Corps Council is celebrating its
 20th anniversary in 2023, and this occasion provides a fitting
 opportunity to reflect on the organization's vital work in behalf
 of the community; and
 WHEREAS, Founded in 2003, the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council
 coordinates the activities of six volunteer programs that prepare
 for and respond to such threats as terrorism, natural disasters,
 severe weather outbreaks, public health issues, and local
 emergencies; and
 WHEREAS, These six programs include the Rowlett Community
 Emergency Response Team (CERT), the EastTex Regional CERT, the
 Rowlett Fire Corps, Rowlett Explorer Post One, the Rowlett Amateur
 Radio Emergency Service, and BSA Troop No. 646; and
 WHEREAS, Altogether, the council's programs benefit from the
 participation of approximately 400 active members, who have donated
 nearly 300,000 service hours valued at over $7 million; in
 addition, the council and its affiliated programs have provided
 more than 1,250 students with CERT training; and
 WHEREAS, For two decades, the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council
 has worked tirelessly to ensure that area communities are safer,
 stronger, and better prepared, and it is a pleasure to recognize the
 invaluable contributions of this exemplary organization; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Rowlett
 Citizen Corps Council and extend to its members and affiliates
 sincere best wishes for continued success with their important
 work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the council as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
