 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Residents of Brownwood lost an esteemed civic leader
 with the passing of Draco Miller on February 16, 2023, at the age of
 60; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Jodie Miller and Vivian Doris Powell,
 Draco Miller was born on July 31, 1962, and he grew up with the
 companionship of three siblings, Jodie, LaJon, and Ilitha; he
 demonstrated a strong work ethic from an early age, and shortly
 after graduating from Brownwood High School in 1980, he joined the
 activities staff at Texas Youth Commission, where he worked for 10
 years; he then took a position with Kohler before serving as a
 crisis case worker for MHMR from 1991 to 1999; additionally, he was
 the owner of several businesses, including Jus' Wings, Brownwood
 Classic Car Wash, and Draco's Janitorial and Auto Detailing, Inc.,
 which was named the 2019 Medium Business of the Year by the
 Brownwood Chamber of Commerce; and
 WHEREAS, A prominent figure in city government, Mr. Miller
 joined the planning and zoning board in 2001, and in 2010 he was
 elected to the Brownwood City Council, where he served for 13 years,
 including 8 years as mayor pro-tempore; over the course of his
 tenure, he played an instrumental role in a range of important
 achievements, including the establishment of Martin Luther
 King Jr. Plaza, the construction of such facilities as the Camp
 Bowie Aquatic Center and the Senior Citizens Center, and the
 completion of vital improvements to city infrastructure; moreover,
 he was a member of a number of local boards, including those for the
 Brown County Appraisal District, the Brownwood Education
 Foundation, and the Center for Life Resources, and he was the
 founder of the Revitalizing Our Community organization, which
 helped to renovate Cecil Holman Park and the Bennie Houston
 Recreation Center; in recognition of his outstanding service to his
 fellow citizens, he was named the 2022 Man of the Year by the
 Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Miller and his wife, the former Sonja Marie
 Webb, shared a rewarding marriage that spanned 42 years; a caring
 husband and father, he took great pride in his children, Mirris,
 Natosha, Draco, Tiffany, and Symone, and he delighted in time spent
 with his grandchildren, Nehemiah, Lyric, Londyn, Mirris, Amari,
 Ayden, Daija, Dailyn, Harper, and Hudson; in all his endeavors, he
 was guided by his strong Christian faith, and he was a member of
 several churches over the course of his lifetime; and
 WHEREAS, Admired for his remarkable leadership, generosity,
 and dedication to public service, Draco Miller leaves behind a
 legacy that will resonate in the Brownwood community for many years
 to come, and he will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of
 all those who had the pleasure to share in his love and friendship;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Draco Miller and
 extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Draco
 Miller.
