| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Jack Doraty of the Galveston Police |

| 6 | 6 | | Department was presented with the Officer of the Year award from the |

| 7 | 7 | | Rotary Club of Galveston in February 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the Rotary Club of Galveston honors local |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | leaders for their service to the community; there are five |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | vocational awards in total, and Sergeant Doraty was selected in the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | police officer category; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Following his service in the U.S. Army, Jack |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Doraty Jr. joined the Galveston Police Department in September |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 2001; over the course of his career, he has served as a patrol |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | officer, a motorcycle officer, and a SWAT operator, and he was the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | inaugural Galveston Police Department city hall officer; he was |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | promoted to sergeant in August 2020, and he leads the department's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | field training program, which provides mentorship for new police |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | officers; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Through his skill and dedication to duty, Sergeant |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Doraty exemplifies the highest ideals of his profession, and he may |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | indeed reflect with pride on this well-deserved recognition; now, |

| 23 | 23 | | therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Sergeant Jack Doraty on his receipt |

| 26 | 26 | | of the Officer of the Year award from the Rotary Club of Galveston |
