H.R. No. 444
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sergeant Jack Doraty of the Galveston Police
Department was presented with the Officer of the Year award from the
Rotary Club of Galveston in February 2023; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the Rotary Club of Galveston honors local
leaders for their service to the community; there are five
vocational awards in total, and Sergeant Doraty was selected in the
police officer category; and
WHEREAS, Following his service in the U.S. Army, Jack
Doraty Jr. joined the Galveston Police Department in September
2001; over the course of his career, he has served as a patrol
officer, a motorcycle officer, and a SWAT operator, and he was the
inaugural Galveston Police Department city hall officer; he was
promoted to sergeant in August 2020, and he leads the department's
field training program, which provides mentorship for new police
officers; and
WHEREAS, Through his skill and dedication to duty, Sergeant
Doraty exemplifies the highest ideals of his profession, and he may
indeed reflect with pride on this well-deserved recognition; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Sergeant Jack Doraty on his receipt
of the Officer of the Year award from the Rotary Club of Galveston
and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Sergeant Doraty as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
