H.R. No. 502
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Joshua G. Torres of McLean Middle School has been
named the 2022-2023 Chase Chair for Teaching Excellence in
Secondary English by the Fort Worth Independent School District;
and
WHEREAS, The Academic Chairs for Teaching Excellence program
recognizes outstanding educators in Fort Worth ISD; winners receive
a $5,000 honorarium and hold their title for one year, during which
time they share their knowledge with their fellow teachers and
assist with district programs and departments; and
WHEREAS, A fitting recipient of this notable honor,
Mr. Torres has been teaching for six years; he holds a bachelor's
degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree
from Texas Christian University, and he is currently working on his
dissertation at TCU; and
WHEREAS, Joshua Torres exemplifies the passion and
dedication that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, and he has
set a standard to which all in his profession may aspire; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Joshua G. Torres on being named the
Fort Worth Independent School District 2022-2023 Chase Chair for
Teaching Excellence in Secondary English and extend to him sincere
best wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Torres as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
