| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Constable Ruben C. Tejeda has rendered outstanding |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | service to his fellow Texans over the course of more than 30 years |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | with the Bexar County Precinct 1 Constable's Office; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of San Antonio's Southside, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Mr. Tejeda graduated from Harlandale High School before attending |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | San Antonio College, Prairie View A&M University, and Texas State |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | University; he began working as a Bexar County deputy sheriff in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 1977 and has since devoted over 45 years of his life to protecting |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and serving the community; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 1992, Mr. Tejeda was elected as Bexar County |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | constable for Precinct 1, and his experience as a warrant officer |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and as a trained police instructor played an important role in his |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | efforts to modernize the office of the constable and in his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | effective leadership of the precinct's officers; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Constable Tejeda has sought |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | opportunities to serve his fellow citizens through community |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | policing and volunteer efforts; his office's support personnel |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | often volunteer their time to provide security for local |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | organizations, saving these groups upwards of $100,000 in security |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | costs each year; in addition, Constable Tejeda has led his office in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | overseeing and hosting a number of local events for children and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | families, including a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Constable Tejeda enjoyed the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | love and support of his wife of 40 years, Rebecca Tejeda, before her |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | passing on July 21, 2022; he is the proud father of two sons, Ruben |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and Gabriel; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Constable Ruben Tejeda has greatly benefited his |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | community through his commitment to the highest standards of his |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | profession, and in so doing, he has earned the admiration and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | appreciation of his colleagues and fellow citizens alike; now, |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | therefore, be it |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby honor Constable Ruben C. Tejeda for his |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | exceptional service to the Bexar County Precinct 1 Constable's |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Office and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be |
