H.R. No. 516
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Constable Ruben C. Tejeda has rendered outstanding
service to his fellow Texans over the course of more than 30 years
with the Bexar County Precinct 1 Constable's Office; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of San Antonio's Southside,
Mr. Tejeda graduated from Harlandale High School before attending
San Antonio College, Prairie View A&M University, and Texas State
University; he began working as a Bexar County deputy sheriff in
1977 and has since devoted over 45 years of his life to protecting
and serving the community; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, Mr. Tejeda was elected as Bexar County
constable for Precinct 1, and his experience as a warrant officer
and as a trained police instructor played an important role in his
efforts to modernize the office of the constable and in his
effective leadership of the precinct's officers; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Constable Tejeda has sought
opportunities to serve his fellow citizens through community
policing and volunteer efforts; his office's support personnel
often volunteer their time to provide security for local
organizations, saving these groups upwards of $100,000 in security
costs each year; in addition, Constable Tejeda has led his office in
overseeing and hosting a number of local events for children and
families, including a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway; and
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Constable Tejeda enjoyed the
love and support of his wife of 40 years, Rebecca Tejeda, before her
passing on July 21, 2022; he is the proud father of two sons, Ruben
and Gabriel; and
WHEREAS, Constable Ruben Tejeda has greatly benefited his
community through his commitment to the highest standards of his
profession, and in so doing, he has earned the admiration and
appreciation of his colleagues and fellow citizens alike; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Constable Ruben C. Tejeda for his
exceptional service to the Bexar County Precinct 1 Constable's
Office and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Constable Tejeda as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
