| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived remain to comfort the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | family and friends of Emmett Lee Grumbles of San Saba, who passed |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | away on May 24, 2022, at the age of 84; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A native of San Saba, Emmett Grumbles was the son of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Irvin and Roxie Taylor Grumbles, and he grew up with the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | companionship of a brother, John Pat; he graduated from high school |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | in 1956 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | University; answering his nation's call to duty, he served in the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of captain before returning to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | civilian life; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In 1972, Mr. Grumbles embarked upon a career as a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | game warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department that |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | spanned more than two decades; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Following his retirement in 1993, Mr. Grumbles |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | moved back to his family farm in San Saba; he loved to visit local |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | coffee shops and restaurants, and in his leisure time, he took |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | pleasure in fishing, boating, and golfing; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Emmett Grumbles led a life of honorable and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | dedicated service to his country and his state, and his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | achievements will long be a source of inspiration to those he leaves |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | behind; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Emmett Lee Grumbles |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many friends; and, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Emmett |
