| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Debbie Gillespie is concluding her tenure on the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | board of trustees of the Frisco Independent School District in June |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 2023, drawing to a close more than a decade of outstanding service |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | to the district; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Since first joining the board in 2011, Ms. Gillespie |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | has served as the Place 5 representative and as the board's vice |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | president and secretary; she was a member of two FISD bond |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | committees in 2003 and 2006, and she has held numerous leadership |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | positions with the Frisco Council of PTAs and school PTAs and PTOs; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | she has also served as an ex-officio board member of the Frisco |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Education Foundation and on the Frisco High School Band Booster |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Club board; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In September 2022, Ms. Gillespie assumed the role of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | president of the Texas Association of School Boards, a nonprofit |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | association that serves and represents school boards across the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | state; she was first elected to the board of TASB as the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | representative for Region 10, Place A, in 2014, and she later served |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | as its second vice president; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Gillespie is a longtime community leader who has |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | benefited many organizations, including the National Charity |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | League, the Young Men's Service League, the Frisco Women's League, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and Frisco Family Services, through her involvement; in all her |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her husband, Dane |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Gillespie, and their two children, Caitlin and Connor; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Debbie Gillespie's hard work, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the students of |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Frisco ISD and earned her the respect and admiration of her fellow |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | trustees, and her contributions will resonate in the community for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby honor Debbie Gillespie for her service on the |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Frisco ISD Board of Trustees and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | for continued success as president of the Texas Association of |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | School Boards; and, be it further |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
