No. 926 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Debbie Gillespie is concluding her tenure on the board of trustees of the Frisco Independent School District in June 2023, drawing to a close more than a decade of outstanding service to the district; and WHEREAS, Since first joining the board in 2011, Ms. Gillespie has served as the Place 5 representative and as the board's vice president and secretary; she was a member of two FISD bond committees in 2003 and 2006, and she has held numerous leadership positions with the Frisco Council of PTAs and school PTAs and PTOs; she has also served as an ex-officio board member of the Frisco Education Foundation and on the Frisco High School Band Booster Club board; and WHEREAS, In September 2022, Ms. Gillespie assumed the role of president of the Texas Association of School Boards, a nonprofit association that serves and represents school boards across the state; she was first elected to the board of TASB as the representative for Region 10, Place A, in 2014, and she later served as its second vice president; and WHEREAS, Ms. Gillespie is a longtime community leader who has benefited many organizations, including the National Charity League, the Young Men's Service League, the Frisco Women's League, and Frisco Family Services, through her involvement; in all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her husband, Dane Gillespie, and their two children, Caitlin and Connor; and WHEREAS, Debbie Gillespie's hard work, professionalism, and commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the students of Frisco ISD and earned her the respect and admiration of her fellow trustees, and her contributions will resonate in the community for years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby honor Debbie Gillespie for her service on the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as president of the Texas Association of School Boards; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Gillespie as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
