 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Mission Historical Museum celebrated the 20th
 anniversary of its founding on December 21, 2022; and
 WHEREAS, Although the Mission Historical Society took the
 first steps to open the museum in 2000, efforts to secure a building
 for the project were not realized until 2002, when the Mission City
 Council voted to establish the museum in the former city hall; the
 Mission Historical Museum opened its doors on December 21, 2002,
 and through the help of donations, it has since offered admission
 free of charge to residents and visitors to the area; and
 WHEREAS, The museum features a number of permanent and
 temporary exhibits showcasing objects and records of historical
 significance to Mission and western Hidalgo County; in addition to
 preserving the heritage of the area, the museum is committed to
 playing an active role in the community, and to that end, it hosts a
 variety of events and free programs for patrons of all ages
 throughout the year; and
 WHEREAS, For the past two decades, the Mission Historical
 Museum has served as a resource for learning, a center for community
 life, and an important repository of the region's history, and it is
 fitting to acknowledge the dedicated work of the museum's
 volunteers, staff, and supporters; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Mission
 Historical Museum and extend to all those associated with the
 museum sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Mission Historical Museum as an expression of high
 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
