7 | 7 | | relating to authorization and reimbursement for certain |

8 | 8 | | examination fee subsidies paid for public school teachers and |

10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Sections 29.190(a-1) and (b), Education Code, |
---|
12 | 12 | | are amended to read as follows: |
---|
13 | 13 | | (a-1) A student may [not] receive more than one subsidy |
---|
14 | 14 | | under this section. |
---|
15 | 15 | | (b) A teacher is entitled to a subsidy under this section if |
---|
16 | 16 | | the teacher passes a certification examination related to career |
---|
17 | 17 | | and technology education [cybersecurity]. |
---|
18 | 18 | | SECTION 2. Section 48.156, Education Code, is amended to |
---|
19 | 19 | | read as follows: |
---|
20 | 20 | | Sec. 48.156. CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION REIMBURSEMENT. A |
---|
21 | 21 | | school district is entitled to reimbursement for the amount of a |
---|
22 | 22 | | subsidy paid by the district for each [a student's] certification |
---|
23 | 23 | | examination under Section 29.190(a) as provided by Section |
---|
24 | 24 | | 29.190(c). |
---|
25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
