55 relating to requiring certain institutions of higher education to

88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 51.302, Education Code, is amended by
1010 adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
1111 (d) A college or university receiving state support or state
1212 aid from public funds that does not offer at least three semester
1313 credit hours or the equivalent in Texas History to undergraduate
1414 students shall enter into an agreement with another postsecondary
1515 educational institution to offer to the college or university's
1616 undergraduate students at least three semester credit hours or the
1717 equivalent in Texas History.
1818 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024
1919 academic year.
2020 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
