| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Sections 2.204 and 6.110, Family Code, are | |
| 12 | 12 | repealed. | |
| 13 | 13 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 14 | 14 | to a marriage ceremony for which a marriage license application is | |
| 15 | 15 | filed on or after the effective date of this Act. A marriage | |
| 16 | 16 | ceremony for which a marriage license application is filed before | |
| 17 | 17 | the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on | |
| 18 | 18 | the date the application was filed, and the former law is continued | |
| 19 | 19 | in effect for that purpose. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
