A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the waiting period following the issuance of a marriage
license and the annulment of a marriage on grounds relating to that
waiting period.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Sections 2.204 and 6.110, Family Code, are
repealed.
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
to a marriage ceremony for which a marriage license application is
filed on or after the effective date of this Act. A marriage
ceremony for which a marriage license application is filed before
the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on
the date the application was filed, and the former law is continued
in effect for that purpose.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
