44 AN ACT
55 relating to fire escape exemptions for certain courthouses.
66 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
77 SECTION 1. Section 791.004, Health and Safety Code, is
88 amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
99 (c) This chapter does not apply to a county courthouse that:
1010 (1) was constructed before September 1, 1989; and
1111 (2) is located in a county with a population of less
1212 than 50,000.
1313 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1414 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1515 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1616 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1717 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
