| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | recognize Jennifer Jones on nearly 30 years of outstanding |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | service as a member of the Sunset Advisory Commission and on her |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | recent retirement as executive director; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Sunset Commission was established in 1977 as |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | a legislative advisory body to address the operations and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | efficiency of Texas state agencies; Jennifer Jones has been a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | valued member of the commission for nearly three decades and has |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | been an exemplar of responsibility and integrity in all aspects |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of her service; Jennifer's commitment to excellence set a high |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | standard for producing essential documents to enable the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | commission to carry out its objectives; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Jennifer's uncompromising work ethic and astute |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | judgment prompted her appointment as executive director of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Sunset Advisory Commission, where she hired and managed some 30 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | staff members; under her direction, the commission conducted |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | reviews to evaluate the performance and cost-effectiveness of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | state agencies and to ensure that agencies functioned according |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | to established standards of excellence; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, During her tenure as executive director, Jennifer |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | oversaw the research and review staff that prepared reports, and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | she supported the Sunset Advisory Commission in its |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | determinations with respect to state agencies; she will continue |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | to work for all Texans in her new role at the Texas General Land |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Office, where she will serve as senior advisor to the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | commissioner and as deputy director of government relations; |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature, hereby commend Jennifer Jones on her distinguished |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | tenure of service with the Sunset Advisory Commission and extend |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | to her best wishes for success in all of her future endeavors; |

| 37 | 37 | | and, be it further |

| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 39 | 39 | | her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
