55 SENATE RESOLUTION
66 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
77 recognize Jennifer Jones on nearly 30 years of outstanding
88 service as a member of the Sunset Advisory Commission and on her
99 recent retirement as executive director; and
1010 WHEREAS, The Sunset Commission was established in 1977 as
1111 a legislative advisory body to address the operations and
1212 efficiency of Texas state agencies; Jennifer Jones has been a
1313 valued member of the commission for nearly three decades and has
1414 been an exemplar of responsibility and integrity in all aspects
1515 of her service; Jennifer's commitment to excellence set a high
1616 standard for producing essential documents to enable the
1717 commission to carry out its objectives; and
1818 WHEREAS, Jennifer's uncompromising work ethic and astute
1919 judgment prompted her appointment as executive director of the
2020 Sunset Advisory Commission, where she hired and managed some 30
2121 staff members; under her direction, the commission conducted
2222 reviews to evaluate the performance and cost-effectiveness of
2323 state agencies and to ensure that agencies functioned according
2424 to established standards of excellence; and
2525 WHEREAS, During her tenure as executive director, Jennifer
2626 oversaw the research and review staff that prepared reports, and
2727 she supported the Sunset Advisory Commission in its
2828 determinations with respect to state agencies; she will continue
2929 to work for all Texans in her new role at the Texas General Land
3030 Office, where she will serve as senior advisor to the
3131 commissioner and as deputy director of government relations;
3232 now, therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3434 Legislature, hereby commend Jennifer Jones on her distinguished
3535 tenure of service with the Sunset Advisory Commission and extend
3636 to her best wishes for success in all of her future endeavors;
3737 and, be it further
3838 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3939 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
