| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Unidos Contra La Diabetes for its work raising |

| 4 | 4 | | awareness of type 2 diabetes in the Rio Grande Valley; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Unidos Contra La Diabetes was established in 2014 |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | as an initiative dedicated to preventing type 2 diabetes in the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Rio Grande Valley; built on community partnerships, this |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | organization draws on medical professionals and other dedicated |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | community members to achieve social, behavioral, and sustainable |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | individual and community change; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Partners of Unidos Contra La Diabetes represent a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | wide range of hospitals, community clinics, foundations, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | universities, and faith-based organizations dedicated to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | improving the lives of children and families in the Rio Grande |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Valley; members build on existing efforts and partnerships by |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | working as a united group to contribute to diabetes prevention |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and to behavioral health improvement efforts in Texas; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Since its formation, the organization has |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | collaborated with its partners, community stakeholders, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | residents of the Rio Grande Valley to raise awareness of type 2 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | diabetes; focused on prevention through respect and education |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | for all residents of the Valley, Unidos Contra La Diabetes has |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | been an integral part of the region for the past nine years, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | its members are truly deserving of recognition for their |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | contributions to the health of residents in the Lone Star State; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Unidos Contra La Diabetes on its many |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | contributions to type 2 diabetes awareness and prevention and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | extend to the initiative best wishes for continued success; and, |
