SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 385
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Unidos Contra La Diabetes for its work raising
awareness of type 2 diabetes in the Rio Grande Valley; and
WHEREAS, Unidos Contra La Diabetes was established in 2014
as an initiative dedicated to preventing type 2 diabetes in the
Rio Grande Valley; built on community partnerships, this
organization draws on medical professionals and other dedicated
community members to achieve social, behavioral, and sustainable
individual and community change; and
WHEREAS, Partners of Unidos Contra La Diabetes represent a
wide range of hospitals, community clinics, foundations,
universities, and faith-based organizations dedicated to
improving the lives of children and families in the Rio Grande
Valley; members build on existing efforts and partnerships by
working as a united group to contribute to diabetes prevention
and to behavioral health improvement efforts in Texas; and
WHEREAS, Since its formation, the organization has
collaborated with its partners, community stakeholders, and
residents of the Rio Grande Valley to raise awareness of type 2
diabetes; focused on prevention through respect and education
for all residents of the Valley, Unidos Contra La Diabetes has
been an integral part of the region for the past nine years, and
its members are truly deserving of recognition for their
contributions to the health of residents in the Lone Star State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, hereby commend Unidos Contra La Diabetes on its many
contributions to type 2 diabetes awareness and prevention and
extend to the initiative best wishes for continued success; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the partners of the organization as an expression of esteem from
the Texas Senate.
