SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 713
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Teresa Jasso Moreno on her distinguished career and on
her outstanding service as assistant to Senator Royce West over
the past three decades; and
WHEREAS, Teresa Moreno began her service with the office of
Senator West on January 12, 1993; a highly respected and valued
staff member, Teresa has fulfilled a wide range of
responsibilities throughout her tenure, and she has made many
lasting contributions benefiting the office of Senator West
during her years of service; and
WHEREAS, Born on February 20, 1962, in Piedras Negras,
Coahuila, Mexico, Teresa moved with her mother and sisters to
Central Texas in 1966 to join her father in the Waco area on the
farm where he worked; after attending elementary school in
Rosebud, Teresa moved to Dallas with her family in 1971; she
graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and went on to earn an
associate degree in paralegal studies from El Centro College; and
WHEREAS, Teresa worked as a paralegal for an attorney and
for a judge before accepting a position with the staff of Senator
West; throughout her service to the office, Teresa has been noted
for her conscientiousness, efficiency, and commitment to
excellence in fulfilling her responsibilities; she has done much
to create a productive and rewarding work environment in both the
law office and senate office of Senator West, and she plays an
indispensible role in maintaining both offices' seamless
operation and a spirit of camaraderie among staff; and
WHEREAS, Outside of her professional endeavors, Teresa is
active in a number of community organizations and has served as a
member of the Dallas Arboretum Board and of the Hispanic 100 in
addition to serving as president of the Hispanic Women's Network
of Texas; Teresa is a devoted wife to her husband of 36 years,
Robert, with whom she shares two children, Nicholas and Sabrina,
and she is blessed with seven grandchildren who are a source of
great joy and who enrich her life immeasurably; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary employee, Teresa is beloved by her
current and former colleagues, and she is an invaluable asset to
Senator West as a member of his staff; her diligence and
dedication to her work have set a lasting standard, and she is
truly deserving of recognition for her years of faithful service
as assistant to Senator West; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, hereby commend Teresa Moreno on her loyal service to
the office of Senator Royce West and extend to her
congratulations on the 30th anniversary of her employment with
the office and best wishes for continued success in her work and
in all of her endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
