| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 6 | | passing of Mary Ann Dodds on May 24, 2022, at the age of 83; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The only child of Russell and Erma Chamberlain, the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | former Mary Ann Chamberlain was born on July 13, 1938, in Clay |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Center, Kansas, and she grew up in nearby Riley; she attended Riley |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | High School, where she was an exceptional student and a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | cheerleader, and she also had a job at the local drug store; she |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | continued her education at Kansas State University, and during her |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | college years, she worked for the president of the university and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | participated in Pi Beta Phi; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, On August 18, 1957, she wed her childhood |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | sweetheart, DeLoss Dodds; in the course of their 64 years of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | marriage, Mrs. Dodds supported her husband in his career as a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | university track coach and athletics director, serving as the team |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | "mom" and traveling to sporting events around the country; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mrs. Dodds was a devoted mother to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | her three children, Doug, Deidre, and Debra, and she delighted in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | becoming "Nana" to her seven grandchildren, Steffan, Hailey, Will, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Sommer, Emily, Alexis, and Allison, and two great-grandchildren, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Bennett and Kathleen; she enjoyed cooking and baking for her loved |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | ones, who cherished her Sunday night dinners, and she was renowned |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | for her chocolate "track cake"; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Admired for her warmth, wit, and elegance, Mary Ann |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Dodds brightened the world for all who knew her, and they will |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | of Mary Ann Dodds and extend sincere condolences to her loved ones; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | and, be it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary Ann |
