26 WHEREAS, The retirement of Jim Yeonopolus as chancellor of
37 Central Texas College on August 31, 2023, concludes 50 years of
48 dedicated service to the institution; and
59 WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Air Force,
6- Mr. Yeonopolus completed a four-year tour of duty before
7- embarking on his career at CTC as a counselor for student
8- services; through the years, he held positions of increasing
9- responsibility as dean, assistant deputy chancellor, and deputy
10- chancellor, and he went on to be appointed as the college's
11- fourth chancellor on November 19, 2015; along the way, he has
12- demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting veterans and
13- members of the military in achieving their educational goals at
14- CTC; and
10+ Mr. Yeonopolus completed a four-year tour of duty before embarking

18- the United Way of the Greater Fort Hood Area and as president of
19- the Council of College and Military Educators, which honored him
20- with several awards for his commitment to the advancement of
21- military and veteran education; he shares his time and expertise
22- with the boards of the Central Texas Workforce Commission, the
23- Association of the United States Army, the National Association
24- of Institutions for Military Education Services, and the Killeen
25- Rodeo Association; moreover, he was appointed by Governor Greg
26- Abbott to the Task Force on Academic Credit and Industry
27- Recognition, and he was selected to serve as an executive council
28- member and chair for the Texas State Delegation of the Southern
29- Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges; and
19+ Texas State University and his master's degree from the University
20+ of Arizona; he previously served as campaign chair of the United Way
21+ of the Greater Fort Hood Area and as president of the Council of
22+ College and Military Educators, which honored him with several
23+ awards for his commitment to the advancement of military and

31- Mr. Yeonopolus received a 2021 Congressional Veteran
32- Commendation by U.S. Congressman John Carter for his service to
33- his community and nation; he was also named Airborne Man of the
34- Year by the Vietnamese Airborne Society in 2008, and he was a
35- recipient of the 2017 Leon Valley Silver Eagle Award by the
36- Longhorn Council of Scouts BSA; and
34+ Mr. Yeonopolus received a 2021 Congressional Veteran Commendation
35+ by U.S. Congressman John Carter for his service to his community and

41- students; now, therefore, be it
42- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
43- Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Jim Yeonopolus on
44- his retirement as chancellor of Central Texas College and extend
45- to him sincere appreciation for his many years of service; and,
46- be it further
42+ lasting impact he has had on the lives of generations of students;
43+ now, therefore, be it
44+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 2nd
45+ Called Session, hereby honor Jim Yeonopolus on his retirement as
46+ chancellor of Central Texas College and extend to him sincere
47+ appreciation for his many years of service; and, be it further
4748 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
48- prepared for Mr. Yeonopolus as an expression of high regard from
49- the Texas Senate.
