SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 27
WHEREAS, Chico's Tacos in El Paso is marking the 70th
anniversary of its founding in 2023; and
WHEREAS, The first Chico's Tacos was opened on Alameda
Avenue on July 4, 1953, by the late Joe B. Mora, a boxing promoter
from El Paso; and
WHEREAS, This family-owned establishment has since
expanded to additional locations, delighting its dedicated
clientele with a menu featuring homestyle Mexican fare and other
specialties; Chico's garnered national attention when it was
spotlighted on television shows such as Delicious Destinations
and The Best Thing I Ever Ate; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of seven decades, Chico's Tacos
has gained generations of loyal followers and established itself
as a local institution, and it is a pleasure to recognize the
restaurant and the reputation for excellence that it has
achieved; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 70th
anniversary of Chico's Tacos and extend to all those associated
with the restaurant sincere best wishes for continued success;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for the restaurant as an expression of high regard from
the Texas Senate.
