| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The life of a true Texas cowboy drew to a close |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | with the passing of Jimmy Lance Hook of Millsap on June 20, 2023, |

| 7 | 7 | | at the age of 73; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Jimmy Hook was born in Stephenville on |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | March 1, 1950, to the Reverend Henry Houston Hook and Mamie |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Louise Hook, and he grew up with a twin brother, Johnny; he |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | graduated from Weatherford College, where he was a member of the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | rodeo team; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Committed to giving back to his alma mater, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Mr. Hook helped found the Weatherford College Rodeo Booster Club |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | in 2007, and he served as club president until the time of his |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | death; moreover, he was a mentor and role model for Weatherford |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | rodeo team members, and he played an instrumental role in helping |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | to provide scholarships and other forms of financial assistance |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | to students; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hook was a working cowboy, and the last outfit |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | he rode for was the River Bluff Ranch in the Texas Hill Country; he |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | was president of the Parker County Livestock Improvement |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Association, and he served as "cow boss" for the Great American |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Cattle Drive of 1995, which made its way from Fort Worth to Montana |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | in a reenactment of the cattle drives of the 1880s; he was employed |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | by Helena Chemical Company; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Hook enjoyed the love |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and support of his wife, Colleen, with whom he shared a rewarding |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | marriage that spanned more than five decades; he was the devoted |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | father of a son, Jody, and he experienced the joy of welcoming a |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | grandchild into his treasured family; he was also a valued |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | congregant of Brock Baptist Church; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, While the passing of Jimmy Hook brings great |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | sadness to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | therefore, be it |

| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |

| 39 | 39 | | of Jimmy Lance Hook and extend heartfelt condolences to the |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | members of his family: to his wife, Colleen Hook; to his son, Jody |

| 41 | 41 | | Hook, and his wife, Joe; to his grandson, Jordan Houston Hook; to |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | his mother, Louise Hook; to his brother, Johnny Vance Hook, and |
