SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 6 In Memory of Jimmy Hook WHEREAS, The life of a true Texas cowboy drew to a close with the passing of Jimmy Lance Hook of Millsap on June 20, 2023, at the age of 73; and WHEREAS, Jimmy Hook was born in Stephenville on March 1, 1950, to the Reverend Henry Houston Hook and Mamie Louise Hook, and he grew up with a twin brother, Johnny; he graduated from Weatherford College, where he was a member of the rodeo team; and WHEREAS, Committed to giving back to his alma mater, Mr. Hook helped found the Weatherford College Rodeo Booster Club in 2007, and he served as club president until the time of his death; moreover, he was a mentor and role model for Weatherford rodeo team members, and he played an instrumental role in helping to provide scholarships and other forms of financial assistance to students; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hook was a working cowboy, and the last outfit he rode for was the River Bluff Ranch in the Texas Hill Country; he was president of the Parker County Livestock Improvement Association, and he served as "cow boss" for the Great American Cattle Drive of 1995, which made its way from Fort Worth to Montana in a reenactment of the cattle drives of the 1880s; he was employed by Helena Chemical Company; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Hook enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Colleen, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage that spanned more than five decades; he was the devoted father of a son, Jody, and he experienced the joy of welcoming a grandchild into his treasured family; he was also a valued congregant of Brock Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, While the passing of Jimmy Hook brings great sadness to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jimmy Lance Hook and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Colleen Hook; to his son, Jody Hook, and his wife, Joe; to his grandson, Jordan Houston Hook; to his mother, Louise Hook; to his brother, Johnny Vance Hook, and his wife, Billie Lou; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jimmy Hook.
