| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The observance of GO TEXAN Year in 2024 provides a |

| 6 | 6 | | welcome opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Texas |

| 7 | 7 | | Department of Agriculture GO TEXAN program and its success in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | promoting Texas agricultural products within the state, across the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | country, and around the world; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Texas leads the nation in number of farms and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | ranches, and agriculture is the state's second largest industry, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | contributing over 4.3 million jobs and $159 billion in direct |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | economic impact; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The GO TEXAN program supports local agriculture, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | economic growth, consumer awareness, and sustainability, while |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | also promoting the state's distinctive culture and culinary |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | offerings; GO TEXAN partners with agricultural producers, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | commodity organizations, cooperatives, service providers, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | small businesses with the goal of showcasing products, services, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and companies that are Texas made and Texas proud; currently, the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | initiative encompasses 2,040 partners across the state, of which |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 96.5 percent would recommend the program to a friend or colleague; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Over the past quarter century, the GO TEXAN program |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | has provided vital support to the state's farming and ranching |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | businesses, and it is indeed deserving of recognition for its many |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 25th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | anniversary of the Texas Department of Agriculture GO TEXAN program |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and honor all those associated with the initiative and with Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | agriculture during this milestone year; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | prepared for the program as an expression of high regard by the |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Texas House of Representatives. |
