55 WHEREAS, The varsity chorale ensemble of Timberview High
66 School in the Mansfield Independent School District has been
77 invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York on March 17, 2024;
88 and
99 WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is awarded to only a few
1010 choirs each year, and it will be the varsity chorale's first ever
1111 concert out of state; during the event, the group will perform
1212 Mozart's Requiem; and
1313 WHEREAS, The Timberview High varsity chorale is an auditioned
1414 choir for students in the 10th through 12th grades; to become a
1515 member of the ensemble, students must demonstrate an advanced level
1616 of vocal technique, sight-reading skills, and performance
1717 practices; in addition to performing, students compete in contests
1818 and learn elements of music theory; the group benefits from the able
1919 leadership of Jason Forte, the director of choirs; and
2020 WHEREAS, Through their talent, hard work, and commitment to
2121 excellence, the young singers of the Timberview High School varsity
2222 chorale have earned their way to an event of enormous prestige, and
2323 their achievement is a great credit to Mansfield ISD and a source of
2424 pride to their families, friends, and fellow students; now,
2525 therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2727 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the
2828 Timberview High School varsity chorale ensemble on being invited to
2929 perform at Carnegie Hall in New York and extend to its members
3030 sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable event; and, be it
3131 further
3232 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3333 prepared for the choir as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3434 House of Representatives.
