56 WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
6- generosity of Carolyn Latham Sullivan of Marshall, who passed
7- away on February 6, 2023, at the age of 90; and
7+ generosity of Carolyn Latham Sullivan of Marshall, who passed away
8+ on February 6, 2023, at the age of 90; and
89 WHEREAS, The former Carolyn Latham was born to Albert and
910 Hazel Latham on October 25, 1932, in Dallas; sharing in the
10- companionship of her two siblings, Marion and Albert, she grew up
11- in Longview and Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School
12- with the Class of 1950; she continued her education at the BMI
13- School of Business and went on to work at Dun & Bradstreet in
14- Little Rock, Arkansas; she later became a co-owner of Sullivan
15- Funeral Home, serving as its bookkeeper for many years; and
16- WHEREAS, On April 6, 1951, she married Bill Sullivan Jr.,
17- and the couple were blessed with two daughters, Sherry and Cindy;
18- with the passing years, they welcomed into their family four
11+ companionship of her two siblings, Marion and Albert, she grew up in
12+ Longview and Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School with
13+ the Class of 1950; she continued her education at the BMI School of
14+ Business and went on to work at Dun & Bradstreet in Little Rock,
15+ Arkansas; she later became a co-owner of Sullivan Funeral Home,
16+ serving as its bookkeeper for many years; and
17+ WHEREAS, On April 6, 1951, she married Bill Sullivan Jr., and
18+ the couple were blessed with two daughters, Sherry and Cindy; with
19+ the passing years, they welcomed into their family four
1920 grandchildren, Clay, Stephen, John, and the late Dr. Lauren
2021 Gilstrap, as well as five great-grandchildren; and
21- WHEREAS, Mrs. Sullivan took an active role in her
22- community, serving on the boards of the Camp Fire Girls, the
23- William B. Travis Elementary School PTA, and the Belmont Club,
24- among others, and she gave generously of her time and talents to
25- such worthy organizations as the Marshall Symphony League, the
26- Marshall Christian Women's Club, and the Marshall Hospital
27- Auxiliary; a woman of faith, she taught Sunday school and served
28- with the choir and altar guild at Trinity Episcopal Church; in
29- her leisure hours, she enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and
30- working in the garden; and
22+ WHEREAS, Mrs. Sullivan took an active role in her community,
23+ serving on the boards of the Camp Fire Girls, the William B. Travis

25+ gave generously of her time and talents to such worthy

3131 WHEREAS, Although she is deeply missed, the passage of time
32- will never diminish the joy and love that Carolyn Sullivan
33- brought into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it
34- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
35- Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
36- of Carolyn Latham Sullivan and extend sincere condolences to her
37- family and friends; and, be it further
32+ will never diminish the joy and love that Carolyn Sullivan brought
33+ into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it
34+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd
35+ Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Carolyn Latham
36+ Sullivan and extend sincere condolences to her family and friends;
37+ and, be it further
3838 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
39- prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
40- this day, it do so in memory of Carolyn Sullivan.
