SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 15 In Memory of Carolyn Sullivan WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and generosity of Carolyn Latham Sullivan of Marshall, who passed away on February 6, 2023, at the age of 90; and WHEREAS, The former Carolyn Latham was born to Albert and Hazel Latham on October 25, 1932, in Dallas; sharing in the companionship of her two siblings, Marion and Albert, she grew up in Longview and Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School with the Class of 1950; she continued her education at the BMI School of Business and went on to work at Dun & Bradstreet in Little Rock, Arkansas; she later became a co-owner of Sullivan Funeral Home, serving as its bookkeeper for many years; and WHEREAS, On April 6, 1951, she married Bill Sullivan Jr., and the couple were blessed with two daughters, Sherry and Cindy; with the passing years, they welcomed into their family four grandchildren, Clay, Stephen, John, and the late Dr. Lauren Gilstrap, as well as five great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Sullivan took an active role in her community, serving on the boards of the Camp Fire Girls, the William B. Travis Elementary School PTA, and the Belmont Club, among others, and she gave generously of her time and talents to such worthy organizations as the Marshall Symphony League, the Marshall Christian Women's Club, and the Marshall Hospital Auxiliary; a woman of faith, she taught Sunday school and served with the choir and altar guild at Trinity Episcopal Church; in her leisure hours, she enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and working in the garden; and WHEREAS, Although she is deeply missed, the passage of time will never diminish the joy and love that Carolyn Sullivan brought into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Carolyn Latham Sullivan and extend sincere condolences to her family and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Carolyn Sullivan.
