SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 22
WHEREAS, Jett Hale of Roberts County 4-H has distinguished
himself by showing the grand champion youth market steer at the
2023 State Fair of Texas' 75th annual Big Tex Youth Livestock
Auction on October 6, 2023; and
WHEREAS, The State Fair's Youth Livestock competitions
annually draw thousands of exhibitors, and each one is competing
for a coveted spot in the Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction; the
auction rewards young Texas 4-H and FFA members for their hard
work and dedication, and a portion of the bids also benefits the
Big Tex Scholarship Program; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hale and his 1,397-pound crossbred steer,
Bryce, competed against 423 other exhibitors at this year's Youth
Market Steer Show, and after winning the grand champion title, he
sold Bryce for a record $160,000 at the auction; and
WHEREAS, A 15-year-old sophomore in the Miami Independent
School District, Mr. Hale has demonstrated outstanding
commitment and ability in raising his champion animal; he has
been showing steers for the past eight years; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has brought great
pride to his family and community, and he is indeed deserving of
special recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Jett Hale
on showing the grand champion youth market steer at the 75th
annual Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction and extend to him sincere
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for Mr. Hale as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
