56 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Corbet
6- Nicholos Jones of Broaddus, who passed away on October 23, 2023,
7- at the age of 73; and
8- WHEREAS, The son of Charlie and Reba Jones, Corbet Jones
9- was born on July 22, 1950, in Center and grew up in Broaddus
10- with five siblings, Charlene, Kenneth, Nelda, Robert, and
11- Isaac; he graduated from high school in 1968 and enlisted in
12- the U.S. Army; following his training at Fort Polk in
13- Louisiana, he received orders to ship to Vietnam, but because
14- his older brother was already serving in the war there, he was
15- assigned instead to a hardship tour, guarding the
16- demilitarized zone at Camp Paine, Korea; he advanced to the
17- rank of gunner and received his honorable discharge in 1974,
18- after also completing reserve duty; and

20- employed with family members in a number of businesses, including
21- a tire shop and a pipeline construction company; he was also a
22- trucker for many years and contracted with a number of different
23- companies before retiring in 2018; in his leisure time, he
24- enjoyed hunting and fishing; and
25- WHEREAS, On May 16, 1973, Mr. Jones married Margie Bryan in
26- a ceremony held in Pineland; they raised two sons, Shane and
27- Chad, and through the years, they were further blessed with four
20+ employed with family members in a number of businesses, including a
21+ tire shop and a pipeline construction company; he was also a trucker
22+ for many years and contracted with a number of different companies
23+ before retiring in 2018; in his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and
24+ fishing; and
25+ WHEREAS, On May 16, 1973, Mr. Jones married Margie Bryan in a
26+ ceremony held in Pineland; they raised two sons, Shane and Chad, and
27+ through the years, they were further blessed with four
2828 grandchildren, Matthew, Carson, Connor, and Ashlyn, who were his
2929 pride and joy; devoted to his family, Mr. Jones was especially
30- close to his sister, Charlene, and her husband, Nat, whom he
31- called his "second dad"; he was sustained by a strong faith from
32- an early age; and
33- WHEREAS, Although Corbet Jones will be deeply missed, he
34- has left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that
35- they will forever treasure; now, therefore, be it
36- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
37- Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life
38- of Corbet Nicholos Jones and extend sincere condolences to the
39- members of his family: to his wife, Margie Bryan Jones; to his
40- sons, Shane Bryan and his wife, Kimberly, and Chad Jones and his
41- wife, Wendy; to his grandsons, Matthew Bryan, Carson Jones, and
42- Connor Jones; to his granddaughter, Ashlyn Bryan; to his
43- brothers, Kenneth Jones and his wife, Emma, and Isaac Jones and
44- his wife, Julie; to his sister, Charlene Willey, and her husband,
45- Nathaniel; to his sisters-in-law, Jeannie Williams and her
46- husband, Jimmy, and Gloria Purvis; and to his many other
47- relatives and friends; and, be it further
30+ close to his sister, Charlene, and her husband, Nat, whom he called
31+ his "second dad"; he was sustained by a strong faith from an early

33+ WHEREAS, Although Corbet Jones will be deeply missed, he has
