26 WHEREAS, Nathaniel Hawthorne Academy in the San Antonio
3- Independent School District is celebrating the 100th anniversary
4- of its founding during the 2023-2024 school year; and

59 WHEREAS, Named after renowned American author Nathaniel
6- Hawthorne, Hawthorne Academy opened its doors in 1923 as one of
7- San Antonio ISD's eight original junior high schools, and it
8- earned the distinction of being part of the first system of
9- junior high schools to be built from the ground up in the United
10- States; it became an elementary school in 1975 and then an
11- internal charter academy in 2001; and
10+ Hawthorne, Hawthorne Academy opened its doors in 1923 as one of San

17- and leadership skills, and it also offers a wide range of

24- residents; now, therefore, be it
25- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
26- Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the
27- centennial of Nathaniel Hawthorne Academy in San Antonio and
28- extend to all those associated with the school sincere best
29- wishes for the future; and, be it further
26+ foundation on which to build, and it has made a lasting and positive
27+ impact in the lives of generations of San Antonio residents; now,
28+ therefore, be it
29+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd
30+ Called Session, hereby commemorate the centennial of Nathaniel
31+ Hawthorne Academy in San Antonio and extend to all those associated
32+ with the school sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
33+ further
