2	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	7		recognize DeMarcus Ware on his outstanding 12-season career in
4	8		the National Football League and on his induction into the Dallas
5	9		Cowboys Ring of Honor; and
6	10		WHEREAS, The Dallas Cowboys legend and all-time sack
7	11		leader was recently inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame's
8		-	Class of 2023, and on October 29, 2023, he will be inducted ~~into~~
9		-	the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor; and
	12	+	Class of 2023, and on October 29, 2023, he will he be inducted
	13	+	into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor; and
10	14		WHEREAS, DeMarcus Ware was selected in the first round of
11	15		the 2005 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, making him the 11th
12	16		overall pick in that year's draft; he started all 16 games of his
13	17		first season as right outside linebacker and quickly rose to
14	18		prominence for his extraordinary talent, amassing 58 tackles and
15	19		a team-best of eight sacks; and
16	20		WHEREAS, He led the Cowboys for the next seven seasons and
17		-	was the NFL's leader in sacks in 2008 and 2010; DeMarcus played with
18		-	the Cowboys until 2013, when he signed with the Denver Broncos; he
19		-	played three seasons with the Broncos and helped the team reach
20		-	victory in Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers; and

	22	+	with the Cowboys until 2013, when he signed with the Denver

25	30		times, he was selected to play in nine Pro Bowls, and he was named
26	31		a member of the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 2000s; and
27	32		WHEREAS, In addition to his outstanding career in
28	33		professional football, DeMarcus is a devoted and loving father to
29	34		his son and daughter and an exemplary citizen who gives
30	35		generously to help others; he is actively involved in a number of
31	36		charitable organizations dedicated to helping vulnerable
32	37		children and to fighting hunger and homelessness, and he has been
33	38		recognized numerous times over the years for his personal
34	39		accomplishments as well as for his philanthropy and his positive
35	40		influence in his community; now, therefore, be it
36	41		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
37	42		Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend DeMarcus Ware on
38	43		his many contributions to our state and on his impressive
39	44		achievements in the NFL and extend to him congratulations on his
40	45		induction into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor and best wishes
41	46		for continued success in his endeavors; and, be it further
42	47		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
43	48		him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
